Damascus, SANA – Prime Minister Imad Khamis received on Monday a number of ambassadors and chargés d’affaires of friendly countries in Damascus and discussed with them enhancing economic cooperation between Syria and their countries.
Khamis said that the Syrian government appreciates the positions of these countries in supporting the Syrian people in the face of the terrorist war waged against Syria.
He pointed out that the economic work program of the government includes self-reliance and the restoration of the production process which stopped due to terrorism, adding that that the economic situation doesn’t allow for waiting which is why the government tended to work in accordance with the war economy and activating cooperation with friendly countries to overcome the challenges posed by the terrorist war.
The Premier briefed the ambassadors on the government’s directives in the economic field and the means used to enhance investment opportunities and expand production process, in addition to working towards marketing Syrian products locally and abroad.
He underlined the importance of 59th Damascus International Fair which will be held in August after a 5-year hiatus, adding that the government will provide spaces for free for the friendly countries who will participate in the exhibition.
Khamis said that the economic relations between Syria and friendly countries focus on two directions, the first one being related to economic exchange for achieving mutual benefits, and the second is their support to the Syrian government and people during past period.
For their part, the ambassadors expressed interest in developing economic cooperation with Syria in various fields, stressing their countries’ keenness to participate in the Damascus International Fair.
