Russian Foreign Ministry refutes reports about Russians killed in Syria

Moscow, SANA- Russian Foreign Ministry has refuted media reports that hundreds of Russians were killed due to the attack launched by the so-called US-led international coalition in the northeastern countryside of Deir Ezzor last week.

“Reports that hundreds or dozens of Russians were killed in Syria are misinformation.” Sputnik news agency quoted a source at the Ministry as saying Wednesday.

In turn, Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee, Vladimir Shamanov, said that some sides are exaggerating and “deliberately overstating the actual situation about Russians killed due to the US attack near Deir Ezzor,” adding that “there is no true and reliable information.”

Last Thursday, forces of the US-led coalition attacked Syrian popular forces that were fighting Daesh terrorist organization between the villages of Khsham and al-Tabyia in Deir Ezzor northeastern countryside.
