Washington, May 10 (SANA) U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani discussed efforts to enhance security and stability across the Middle East during talks held in the United States.
Agence France-Presse quoted U.S. State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott as saying in a statement on Sunday that the two sides discussed the importance of maintaining close coordination to deter threats and reinforce security and stability across the region.
Rubio expressed appreciation for the level of partnership between the United States and Qatar on a number of issues of mutual interest, according to the statement.
Earlier, Axios reported that Rubio and White House envoy Steve Witkoff met the Qatari foreign minister in Miami as part of efforts aimed at reaching an agreement to end the war in the region.
