Two men killed due to injuries after being shot and arrested by US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces “SDF” units during a raid in the town of Gharanij in Deir ez-Zor countryside last week, local sources told SANA on Monday.
The sources told SANA that SDF personnel stormed the homes of Mohammad Meheydi al-Rashid al-Huwaish and Ali al-Najm al-Huwaish, opened fire on them, and then arrested them while they were still wounded.
According to the sources, both men later died from their injuries. Their bodies were handed over to their families at dawn on Monday without prior notification.
The same sources said SDF groups also detained five of the men’s relatives and a woman, who was later released.
Residents of the area condemned what they described as a recurring pattern of arbitrary raids, demanding accountability for the killings and for the repeated violations against civilians in the eastern region.
