Beirut, SANA- Former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt , condemned the recent Israeli aggression on the Syrian capital, Damascus, stressing that this aggression represents a blatant assault on Syrian national security.
“Israel is not protecting the Druze in Sweida, as it claims, but rather is using some local leaders to justify its interventions under this pretext,” Jumblatt said in a statement to Syria TV.
He pointed out that some of these leaders have benefited from the violations that occurred over the past two days, which have had negative repercussions on Arab society. This calls for efforts to restore the national fabric and achieve greater harmony and reconciliation in Jabal al-Arab between the state and the residents of the mountain.
Jumblatt affirmed that the Syrian state and its institutions must play a central role in achieving stability in Jabal al-Arab, within a framework of respect for Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity. He said, “Imposing solutions by force is ineffective, and dialogue is the only way to overcome crises.”
He added that national unity, openness, and the implementation of true democracy are the only means to protect Syria from the dangers threatening it.
