Syrian Civil Aviation: Qamishli Airport currently closed

Damascus, SANA- The Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation said on Saturday that Qamishli International Airport is currently closed for operational reasons, and this closure is considered effective and binding on all airline companies and concerned parties locally and internationally.

In response to the announcement by the so-called “Autonomous Administration” regarding the management of Qamishli Airport, the authority stressed in a statement that “it is the only entity legally authorized to manage and operate airports in the Syrian Arab Republic and regulate air traffic within Syrian airspace, including the issuance or amendment of any navigational announcements”.

The Authority stated that Qamishli Airport is closed to any air traffic whatsoever, and the decision to operate or use it is issued exclusively by the authority, and any attempt to use it without official coordination and approval is a clear violation of international laws and regulations governing air navigation.
