Latakia, Aug. 24 (SANA) – Syria’s Drug Enforcement Department dismantled a criminal network involved in drug trafficking in Latakia province and arrested three of its members following surveillance and tracking operations, the Interior Ministry said Monday.
The department said in a statement on Telegram that the operation resulted in the seizure of 45 kilograms of hashish, 25,000 Captagon pills and 400 grams of crystal methamphetamine, in addition to two handguns.
The arrested men with their seized items were referred to the competent judicial authorities for legal action, the department added.
Syrian authorities have seized and destroyed large quantities of various narcotics in recent months that the ousted regime had produced and circulated inside Syrian society, and smuggled them into neighboring countries and across the region.
