Syrian refugees: Despite the destruction of our homes in Busra al-Sham, the joy of returning home is priceless

Daraa، SANA-Syrian refugees who spent twelve years in Jordan’s Zaatari camp have returned to their homes in Busra al-Sham city, Daraa, after the country’s liberation, facing widespread destruction.

Despite having seen the devastation through social media, the reality proved even more challenging, with many houses destroyed or needing costly repairs.

Some refugees have managed to restore parts of their homes using savings, while others plan to reconstruct gradually.

The joy of returning home remains invaluable to them, outweighing the difficulties. For Hassan Ali al-Mikdad, living in his partially repaired home in Syria is preferable to staying in asylum countries, as it holds memories of the revolution and victory.

Engineer Mohammed al-Issa is assessing the damage with the municipal council, revealing that 30% of the homes in Busra al-Sham have been destroyed.
