Local Administration and Environment, and Emergency and Disaster Ministers discuss joint files

Damascus, SANA- Engineer Mohammad Anjarani, Minister of Local Administration and Environment, and Raed al-Saleh, Minister of Emergency and Disaster, have discussed avenues for joint cooperation to restructure emergency and firefighting files.

They also addressed the legal procedures involved in transferring ownership of firefighting buildings, currently belonging to the Ministry of Local Administration, to the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster.

During the meeting held Monday at the Ministry’s headquarters in Damascus, Minister Anjarani emphasized the importance of regulating the ownership transfer process within a legal, administrative, and financial framework, in coordination with the Civil Defense Organization.

He noted that the emergency file requires direct coordination with administrative units and cooperation between both ministries.

Minister Anjarani also highlighted ongoing efforts to reinstate safety and security requirements through community education campaigns, training ministerial staff for emergency and disaster response, and issuing a new licensing system based on safety and security classifications.

For his part, Minister of Emergency and Disaster stressed the necessity of bilateral cooperation to fully transfer the Civil Defense system to the ministry.

He also discussed procedures for ensuring that any facility or complex adheres to safety and security standards, mentioning that the formation of a national committee for emergency response, with representation from all ministries, is currently under consideration.
