Minister of Justice discusses judicial reform with Norwegian Chargé d'Affaires

Damascus, SANA-Syria’s Minister of Justice, Dr. Mazhar al-Weis, has met with the Norwegian Chargé d’Affaires in Damascus, Hilde Haraldstad, to discuss judicial reform and its requirements concerning resources, capabilities, and the training of personnel following the previous hiatus.

During the meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters, the Minister expressed his gratitude for the European role in lifting sanctions on Syria.

He commended the anticipated stability and development in the country, including in the justice sector. The Minister also emphasized the necessity of support from neighboring countries and the international community to achieve the objectives of judicial reform.

Throughout the discussion, the Norwegian Chargé d’Affaires highlighted the current situation in Syria and the challenges facing the country, such as issues related to the judiciary and the return of refugees.

She affirmed her support for transitional justice and the importance of drawing upon the experiences of other countries in this field.
