Syria welcomes US government's decision to lift sanctions imposed on country

Damascus, SANA- The Syrian Arab Republic welcomed the US government’s decision to lift sanctions imposed on the country and its people for many years, including the issuance of “sanctions relief” for mandatory sanctions under the Caesar Act, and the issuance of General License No. 25 (GL 25) on Syria.

The Syrian Arab Republic considers the step as a positive procedure in the right direction to alleviate the humanitarian and economic suffering in the country.

“Syria extends its hand to all those who wish to cooperate on the basis of mutual respect and non-interference in the domestic affairs. It believes that dialogue and diplomacy are the best way to building balanced relations that achieve the interests of peoples and enhance security and stability in the region,” The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a press release posted on its Telegram channel.

Syria also expresses its appreciation to all the countries, institutions, and peoples who stood by it, and emphasizes that the next phase will be a stage of reconstruction to what has been destroyed by the ousted regime and restoring Syria’s natural status in the region and the world.
