Thomas Barrack: I am proud to serve as the U.S. Special Envoy for Syria and to support

Washington,SANA-U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Thomas Barrack expressed his pride in assuming the position of U.S. Special Envoy for Syria, stressing that he will work to implement President Donald Trump’s vision for a stable and peaceful Syria.

“President Trump has laid out his clear vision for a prosperous Middle East and a stable Syria at peace with itself and its neighbors,” Barrack said on the official Facebook page of the U.S. Embassy in Syria.

He added that on May 13, the President pledged to lift the severe U.S. sanctions so the new government could stabilize the country, and now Secretary Marco Rubio is responsible for implementing the President’s vision.

“The lifting of sanctions opens enormous prospects in the region for various forms of peace, security, and an end to conflicts and wars,” the diplomat stated.

Barrack added, “As President Trump’s representative to Turkey, I am proud to serve as the US Special Envoy for Syria and to support Secretary Rubio in achieving the President’s vision.”

“Lifting sanctions against Syria will preserve our primary objective of definitively defeating ISIS and will provide the Syrian people with the opportunity for a better future. In this way, in cooperation with our regional partners, such as Turkey and the Gulf States, we are enabling the Syrian government to restore peace, security, and hope for well-being,” he said.

The U.S. envoy affirmed, “We will work together, and together we will succeed.”
