Global Council for Tolerance and Peace welcomes US decision on lifting Syria sanctions

Global Council for Tolerance and Peace welcomes US decision on lifting Syria sanctions

Abu Dhabi, SANA- Global Council for Tolerance and Peace has welcomed US President Donald Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on Syria, stressing that this decision came at the right time and represents an important step towards restoring stability and building a bright future for the country.

In a statement carried by the Emirates News Agency (WAM) , Council President Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan stressed that this move reflects a growing awareness of the importance of supporting the peaceful process in Syria, as it serves the interests of the Syrian people and serves development and stability, both regionally and internationally, and enables Syria to serve as a platform for dialogue, coexistence and development.

Al Jarwan praised the active role of Arab leaders in creating the conditions for such a decision and in pushing towards finding political solutions that enhance regional stability.

He said that this decision as a glimmer of hope for Syria’s return to its Arab and international community, calling on the international community to continue supporting efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.
