Dr. Husriya: Lifting sanctions on Syria is a crucial step toward restoring economic stability and the country's recovery

Damascus, SANA-The Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, Dr. Abdul Qader al-Husriya, stressed that U.S.  President Donald Trump’s decision to lift sanctions imposed on Syria is a highly significant step toward restoring economic stability and the country’s recovery.

The governor posted on his personal Facebook page on Wednesdy: “The Syrian people have long suffered from the effects of these sanctions, which have restricted our ability to access the global financial system and directly impacted the livehoods of citizens and the work of economic and financial institutions.”

Dr. Husriya added: “I extend my thanks to everyone who supported Syria in this path, especially our brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar, the Republic of Turkey, and our friends in the United Kingdom and the European Union, for their diplomatic efforts and their commitment to support stability and development in our country. Thanks also go to Syrian diplomacy, which was skillfully and competently led by His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.”
