Turkish Energy Minister: Plans to Export 6 Million Cubic Meters of Natural Gas to Syria

Ankara, SANA-Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced Turkish plans to export 6 million cubic meters of natural gas per day to Syria.

Anadolu Agency quoted Bayraktar as saying in an interview with the private Turkish channel CNN Turk: “The natural gas planned to be exported, which is expected to reach 2 billion cubic meters annually, will be used to generate electricity within Syria.”

The Turkish minister noted that the Syrian side had begun completing infrastructure work for the natural gas pipeline, explaining that the gas will be transported from the Turkish province of Kilis to Aleppo for use in the city’s power plant.

Bayraktar stressed that contributing to restoring life to normal in Syria is one of Turkey’s priorities.
