Syrian government, World Bank discuss economic recovery track, preparations for upcomin

Damascus, SANA- The Syrian government, under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, the Ministries of Energy, Economy and Foreign Trade, Industry, and Finance, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, held a joint meeting Wednesday with a delegation from the World Bank.

The meeting addressed key issues of the next term in the track of technical and economic cooperation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates posted on its Telegram channel that the meeting discussed ways to address economic sanctions and ease their impacts.

The two sides also discussed mechanisms to facilitate financial transfers and activate support tools aimed at reviving the Syrian economy, with a focus on productive and strategic sectors.

They also agreed to develop a joint roadmap that includes work priorities for the coming period, in preparation for an expanded meeting scheduled during April. This meeting will serve as a key platform for enhancing technical cooperation and launching economic support programs specifically for Syria.

The Syrian government stressed the importance of adopting a realistic approach based on respect for the national sovereignty and linking economic recovery to improving citizens’ living conditions.

The World Bank delegation expressed its willingness to continue coordination within agreed frameworks.
