Egypt, Kuwait affirm their support for the unity and stability of Syria

Kuwait, SANA- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Mishal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah have affirmed their support for the unity and stability of Syria, welcoming the formation of the Syrian government.

They reiterated their condemnation of the Israeli occupation aggression against Syrian territories.

Egyptian Presidency Spokesman, Ambassador Mohamed Ibrahim El-Shenawy said in a statement at the end of President El-Sisi’s visit to Kuwait on Wednesday, that the Egyptian-Kuwaiti summit discussions addressed several issues including developments in Syria, where both sides stressed support for Syria’s stability.

“The two sides underscored the importance of the announcement regarding the formation of a transitional government and the necessity for it to meet the aspiration and hopes of the Syrian people to live in security, safety, and prosperity”, Kuwaiti News Agency, KUNA quoted a joint Egyptian-Kuwaiti statement issued at the conclusion of their talks.

They called for the political process during state-building phase, with participation of all Syrians factions through a national Syrian ownership without exclusion in line with Security Council Resolution 2254.

The two countries also urged in the statement to prioritize national interest to support stability, preserve state institutions and resources, maintain territorial integrity and identity, reject foreign interference in Syrian affairs, and combat terrorism in all its forms.

They also renewed their condemnation of Israeli occupation aggression on Syrian sovereignty, emphasizing the importance of Israel’s respect for international law.
