French President congratulates President al-Sharaa on assuming Syria’s presidency

French President congratulates President al-Sharaa on assuming Syria’s presidency

Damascus, SANA- President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmad al-Sharaa, received a telephone call from his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.

President Macron congratulated President al-Sharaa on assuming Syria’s presidency and liberating the country from the deposed Assad regime through Syrian efforts, and expressed his full support for the transitional phase in Syria.

President Macron stressed his country commitment to lift sanctions on Syria and pave the way for growth and recovery.

The two presidents discussed the security challenges in Syria and the need to work together to maintain security and stability, stressing support for the political process in Syria and the country’s unity, independence and territorial integrity.

In turn, President al-Sharaa thanked his French counterpart for his call and France’s supportive stance toward the Syrian people over the past 14 years.

He stressed that Syria “would become a positive and active player in the region and the world, sharing security concerns with its partners while prioritizing national interests, stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

Al-Sharaa also highlighted “the ongoing challenges posed by economic sanctions on the Syrian people and the non completion of territorial unity of the country.”

President al-Sharaa concluded by talking about the developmental and national vision adopted by the new administration, to ensure the prosperity and recovery of Syria and its people urgently.

At last, President al-Sharaa received an invitation from the French president to visit Paris in the coming weeks.
