Raqqa, Oct. 21 (SANA) Two Syrian Arab Army military engineering personnel were injured, one seriously, when a landmine left behind by the ousted regime exploded during clearance operations in Ain Issa town in northern Raqqa countryside, the Defense Ministry said.
The ministry’s Media and Communications Directorate told SANA that the blast occurred as the soldiers were clearing and dismantling mines in the area.
On Sept. 23, three military engineering personnel were injured in a similar blast while clearing mines in al-Hurriya village in the Tal Abyad area of northern Raqqa Governorate.
Army engineering teams continue to clear landmines and unexploded ordnance across Syria under a Defense Ministry plan aimed at reducing risks to civilians and securing towns, villages and agricultural land.
