Damascus, Oct. 13 (SANA) Syria’s Justice Minister Mazhar al-Wais met with Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Director-General Sabrina Dallafior and her accompanying delegation in Damascus to discuss boosting cooperation on resolving Syria’s chemical weapons file.

According to the Justice Ministry’s Telegram channel, the meeting addressed the Syrian government’s efforts to complete the file in cooperation with the OPCW.

The talks also covered legal accountability for the use of chemical weapons, with a view to ensuring justice for victims in accordance with relevant legal frameworks.

The meeting was attended by Republic Prosecutor General Judge Hassan al-Turba and Syria’s Permanent Representative to the OPCW in The Hague, Mohammad Katoub.

On July 9, the OPCW Executive Council adopted by consensus a draft decision restoring the rights and privileges of the Syrian Arab Republic under the Chemical Weapons Convention, reflecting broad support for Syria’s efforts to address the legacy of the deposed Assad regime’s chemical weapons program.
