Damascus, Oct. 8 (SANA) A water project aimed at improving drinking water supplies for around two million people in Damascus countryside and southern Damascus was put into service on Thursday, with two pumping stations at the Eighth and Fifth Intersections on the city’s southern axis.
The project was implemented by the General Company for Drinking Water and Sanitation in Damascus in cooperation with the Syrian Civil Defense and with funding from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.
It is designed to strengthen drinking water sources and improve supplies to residents of Sahnaya, Ashrafieh Sahnaya, al-Kiswah, al-Barda, al-Salam Suburb, Jaramana, al-Qazzaz and parts of southern Damascus.
The project included the rehabilitation of 28 wells surrounding the two pumping stations and the installation of booster pumps, helping increase the volume of water reaching beneficiaries and improve the stability of water supplies.
