Damascus, June 8 (SANA) Syria has reopened its southern air corridors and resumed flight operations at Damascus International Airport after temporarily suspending services amid regional security developments, the country’s civil aviation authority said on Monday.
Omar Hosari, head of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport, said air traffic and airport operations resumed at 4:00 p.m. local time following a comprehensive assessment of the security situation.
Hosari said the decision was made after continuous monitoring of regional developments and a risk evaluation conducted by a specialized committee in coordination with relevant authorities.
Earlier Monday, the authority extended the closure of Syria’s southern air corridors and suspended operations at Damascus International Airport as a precautionary measure linked to regional tensions and aviation safety concerns.
The restrictions prompted Syrian Air to reroute several scheduled services, including flights to and from Dubai and Jeddah, before authorities announced the reopening following a revised risk assessment.
