New York, Sept. 23 (SANA) President Ahmad al-Sharaa met Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi in New York on Tuesday, discussing ways to strengthen political and security coordination between Syria and Iraq and expand economic and trade cooperation.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and was attended by Foreign and Expatriates Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani.
The talks addressed Syrian-Iraqi relations and ways to strengthen political and security coordination between the two countries, expand economic and trade cooperation, and address a number of issues of mutual interest.
The general debate of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly opened Tuesday with Syria participating. According to the official United Nations schedule, the debate is being held from Sept. 22-26 and will conclude Sept. 28.
