Foreign Ministry welcomes exemptions concerning US economic sanctions imposed on Syria

Foreign Ministry welcomes exemptions concerning US economic sanctions imposed on Syria

Damascus, SANA- Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stressed Wednesday that lifting economic sanctions on Syria has become necessary to drive recovery in it and achieve stability and prosperity.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement “We welcome the exemptions and exceptions concerning the economic sanctions imposed on Syria as announced by the US administration.”

The Ministry added “We achieved this progress as a result of the intensive sessions we have held recently, and we thank all the wonderful Syrian cadres who made great efforts in this regard.”

The Foreign Ministry affirmed that “economic sanctions have begun to target the Syrian people after the reason for which they were created has disappeared, and lifting them completely has become necessary to drive recovery in Syria and achieve stability and prosperity.”
