Damascus, Sept. 4 (SANA) Transport Minister Yarub Badr discussed on Thursday with representatives from Saudi Arabia’s al-Rawaf Company and Syria’s al-Kawati Company the necessary facilities to begin executing the rehabilitation and development of the Damascus–Palmyra–Deir Ezzor road axis.
During the meeting held at the ministry’s building in Damascus, Minister Badr affirmed that the ministry is completing procedural steps under applicable laws and will offer all available facilities to accelerate execution, backing contractor performance and resolving field challenges within legal frameworks.
Badr stressed the importance of direct coordination to finalize requirements and move into the implementation phase while adhering to technical and legal standards.
The meeting was attended by al-Rawaf Chief Business Officer Saleh bin Ahmed Al-Gharas, General Manager in Syria Omar bin Turki Al-Ghazzawi, along with representatives from al-Kawati Company, and the Director General for Public Establishment for Road Communications Muath Najjar.
On Aug. 19, the Public Establishment for Road Communications awarded the tender for rehabilitating the Damascus–Palmyra and Palmyra–Deir Ezzor roads and constructing a second lane to al-Rawaf and al-Kawati for approximately $300 million.
