Hama, Aug. 16 (SANA) The “Summer of Syria” Festival opened in Hama on Saturday with a program of theater performances, artistic activities and cultural events as part of efforts to promote creativity and provide entertainment for families and children during the summer season.

The festival’s first activities attracted residents and children for a theatrical performance, an art exhibition and cultural competitions.

Abdul Ghafour Ramadan, head of the Children’s Culture Department at the Hama Directorate of Culture, told SANA that the festival aims to encourage children’s creativity, discover young talents in cultural and artistic fields and help develop their abilities.

He said the festival’s first three days will be held in Hama city, with activities later moving to different areas across the province as part of efforts to expand access to cultural events.

Ramadan highlighted the participation of government and civil society organizations, saying joint efforts play an important role in supporting children, enhancing their skills and encouraging artistic and intellectual development.

Abdullah al-Hammad, head of the Empowerment Department at the Hama Directorate of Emergency and Disaster Management, said the directorate is taking part through a pavilion at the Culture Directorate to introduce visitors, particularly children and young people, to emergency response work.

The pavilion showcases rescue and first-aid equipment and promotes awareness of prevention, public safety and emergency preparedness, he said.

The launch of the Summer of Syria Festival in Hama is part of the Culture Directorate’s efforts to strengthen cultural and artistic activities across the province and create social and recreational spaces for families and children.
