Doha/Amman, Aug. 26 (SANA) Qatar and Jordan on Wednesday welcomed the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into Syrian state institutions, describing the move as an important step toward strengthening Syria’s unity, security and stability.
Qatar said the integration was an important step toward consolidating civil peace, enhancing security and stability, and building a state based on institutions and the rule of law.
In a statement posted on the X platform, the Qatari Foreign Ministry reiterated its stance that Syria’s stability and prosperity require the state to have a monopoly on weapons through a single army representing all spectrums of Syrian society.
It said this would help safeguard Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
Qatar also expressed appreciation for Syria’s approach and its efforts to bring all segments of the Syrian people together under the umbrella of the state, reaffirming its full support for Syria’s sovereignty and the aspirations of its people for freedom, development and prosperity.
Meanwhile, Jordan also welcomed the announcement, calling it an important step toward enhancing the unity of the Syrian Arab Republic and its security and stability.
Jordanian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, reaffirmed the kingdom’s steadfast support for Syria’s reconstruction on foundations that preserve its unity, sovereignty, security, stability and territorial integrity, as well as the safety of its citizens and the rights of all Syrians.
The two statements followed an announcement on Tuesday by SDF commander Mazloum Abdi that the mission of the SDF had ended and that the force had been dissolved as an independent military entity after completing the integration of its forces into brigades of the Syrian army.
Abdi said the move marked a transition to a new phase centered on peace and stability and the building of a new Syria.
