Damascus, Aug. 26 (SANA) Information Minister Khaled Zaarour said the decision to dissolve the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and integrate its capabilities into the Syrian state’s military and civilian institutions represents a victory for the unity of Syria’s land and people and affirms that the country has room for all its citizens.

“Today marks the completion of a pivotal step in the nation’s recovery, and we begin a new phase based on stability, development and unified efforts to build a secure future that brings us all together,” Zaarour said Tuesday on his official Facebook page.

Completing Syria’s unity

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Marwan al-Halabi said the dissolution of the SDF, the termination of its affiliated formations and administrations, and the integration of its capabilities into state institutions represent a pivotal step toward completing the unity of Syria’s land and people.

He said the move would consolidate the presence of the state and its institutions across Syria and open a new chapter based on stability, unified efforts and building the future.

“We welcome our Kurdish people as integral partners in the nation and affirm that a unified Syria has room for all its citizens and that its diversity is a source of strength and richness,” al-Halabi said in a post on X.

“The coming phase requires solidarity among all Syrians and joint efforts to build a strong and secure state that preserves the rights of its citizens and safeguards their dignity and aspirations,” he added.

Al-Halabi said Syria is steadily moving toward restoring its vitality and standing, overcoming the effects of years of division and bringing together the energies of its people for reconstruction and development, with the goal of building a unified, stable and secure homeland under the state and its institutions.

Culture Minister Mohammad Yassin al-Saleh described the dissolution of the SDF and its affiliated formations and administrations as another step in the Syrian state’s efforts to unify the country and its people.

“Welcome to our Kurdish brothers in the joint effort to build a rich Syrian culture and cohesive national unity that respects others and takes into account their hopes and aspirations,” al-Saleh said in a statement.

The culture minister said Syria is restoring its standing day by day and erasing the traces of discord left by the ousted regime.

Mazloum Abdi announced Tuesday the end of the mission of the Syrian Democratic Forces and their dissolution as an independent military force following the completion of their integration into brigades of the Syrian Army.
