Doha, Aug. 25 (SANA) Qatar on Tuesday welcomed the U.S. decision to remove Syria from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, describing the move as a positive development that would support efforts to achieve stability in Syria and the region.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a post on X that the move would also help advance the political settlement in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and in a manner that fulfills the aspirations of the Syrian people.

The ministry reaffirmed Qatar’s firm position in support of Syria’s unity, sovereignty and independence, as well as its commitment to standing by the Syrian people in their pursuit of security, stability and prosperity.

The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control on Monday issued an official update to its sanctions regulations announcing Syria’s removal from the list following the completion of legal procedures related to the congressional review without objection.
