Damascus, May 27 (SANA) One person was killed and 13 others injured in traffic accidents across Syria over the past 24 hours, as Syrian Civil Defense teams responded to multiple emergencies in several provinces.
According to the Syrian Civil Defense at the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management, eight traffic accidents resulted in the death of one young man and injuries to 13 people.
Civil Defense teams provided first aid to six injured people before transferring them to hospitals for treatment, while local residents transported the remaining injured individuals to medical centers. Rescue crews also secured and cleared accident sites.
The Civil Defense said its teams additionally responded to 65 fires across Syria, including 11 fires in homes and commercial shops, alongside 54 separate fires involving dry grass, electrical wires, and other causes.
Teams extinguished the fires and cooled affected areas without recording civilian injuries. Damage was limited to material losses.
The Civil Defense urged residents not to light fires in forests or agricultural lands and warned against throwing cigarette butts or glass bottles along roadsides, particularly near crops and wooded areas.
Authorities also advised against burning dry grass near homes or roads and called for safe removal methods to reduce fire risks.
Earlier this week, one person was killed and 16 others injured in separate fires and traffic accidents across several Syrian provinces.
