Damascus, Aug. 21 (SANA) Justice Minister Mazhar al-Wais affirmed that the black anniversary of the chemical attack renews Syria’s commitment to achieving justice for the victims and holding those responsible for the crime accountable.
Ina post on X on Friday, Minister al-Wais said: “In remembering the chemical crime, the pain of the victims is renewed, as is our responsibility to achieve justice and hold the perpetrators of this heinous crime accountable”.
He stressed that the chemical attack remains among the leading cases pursued by the Ministry of Justice in cooperation with national and international partners, with the aim of securing justice for the victims and upholding the principle of accountability.
On Aug. 21, 2013, the ousted regime carried out a chemical attack on Damascus’ Ghouta using internationally prohibited sarin gas, killing more than 1,400 civilians and injuring thousands of others.
