Damascus, Aug. 15 (SANA) Syria’s National Committee for Combating Illicit Gain has extended its Voluntary Disclosure Program through Jan. 31, 2027, offering what it described as a final additional opportunity for eligible individuals to resolve their financial and legal status.
The extension was approved after the commission reviewed requests from people seeking more time, particularly individuals outside Syria who could not complete the necessary procedures or decide whether to make a disclosure during the previous period.
The commission said the program offers a legal avenue for people whose former business activities or interests were linked to defunct regime figures, their inner circle or associated economic networks.
Participants can disclose their circumstances, funds and assets and, if they meet the eligibility requirements, enter a legal settlement process.
Officials said the program aims to recover rights and assets belonging to the Syrian state and the Syrian people. It is also intended to allow those who properly settle their status to resume lawful and transparent economic activity.
The commission said Syria needed the contribution of its business community to build a strong national economy based on integrity, fair competition and the rule of law.
It added that settling obligations arising from previous economic relationships and practices could clear the way for businesspeople to participate in reconstruction and development.
People inside and outside Syria may contact the commission directly to ask about their status or the required procedures. The commission said an enquiry alone would not expose a person to liability or other consequences.
It warned the public not to deal with anyone claiming to act as an intermediary or to have influence over its decisions. It urged people to report attempted fraud, extortion or requests for money made in the commission’s name.
Applications will be reviewed according to approved procedures that protect the rights of the state and individuals and maintain the confidentiality of disclosures.
The commission urged potential applicants not to wait until the January deadline. Disclosures, enquiries and reports can be submitted through its official website and designated communication channels.
