Damascus, July 25 (SANA) Syrian officials have extended their heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed in the tragic bus collision on the Deir Ezzor–Damascus Road, while reaffirming the government’s commitment to mobilizing all available resources to provide medical care for the injured and address the consequences of the accident.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani extended his sincere sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic bus collision on the Deir Ezzor–Damascus Road.
In a post on the social media platform X, al-Shaibani said: “It is with profound sorrow that we have followed the consequences of the tragic collision between two buses on the Damascus–Deir Ezzor Road, which claimed dozens of casualties.”
He added: “I extend my sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims. Wishing, at the same time, a swift recovery to the injured.”
Justice Minister Mazhar al-Wais also extended his deepest condolences to the Syrian people and to the families of those killed in the tragic accident on the Damascus–Deir Ezzor Road, wishing the injured a speedy recovery and patience and solace to their families.
Information Minister Khaled Zaarour extended, in turn, his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic traffic accident on the Deir Ezzor–Damascus Road. “The profound sorrow caused by this tragedy is shared by every Syrian,” Zaarour said.
Minister Zaarour wished speedy recovery for the injured.
Health Minister Musab al-Ali said medical teams continue to deliver, emergency medical care to those injured in the traffic accident, affirming that all relevant authorities remain on full alert in response to the incident.
Al-Ali said several ministries had mobilized emergency response and ambulance teams, including the Ministry of Health, the medical services of the Ministries of Defense and Interior, and the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management.
He stated that casualties were initially taken to hospitals in Deir Ezzor and Palmyra (Tadmur), while military helicopters operated by the Ministry of Defense’s medical services airlifted several injured people to hospitals in Homs.
The minister said a number of patients remain in critical condition, requiring surgical procedures, most of them orthopedic surgeries, in addition to neurological cases, while other patients sustained minor injuries and are expected to be discharged in the coming days.
He added that blood transfusion centers had been placed on full alert from the earliest moments of the emergency to secure the blood units required for treatment.
Al-Ali stressed that direct instructions had been issued to mobilize all available resources to serve the injured.
He also extended his deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed al-Saleh stated that the ministry’s teams, working in coordination with personnel from the Ministries of Defense, Interior and Health, had concluded emergency response operations following the tragic collision between two buses on the Deir Ezzor–Damascus Road.
He said seven specialized response teams, including ambulance, rescue and firefighting units, were deployed in the operation, evacuating victims and injured passengers, providing emergency medical assistance and securing the accident site.
Al-Saleh described the incident as one of Syria’s deadliest road accidents in recent years in terms of casualties, saying it underscored the shared national responsibility to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
He added that the accident also demonstrated the urgent need to address long-standing challenges affecting road infrastructure, which he described as the result of years of neglect and damage to public service sectors.
The minister reiterated his sincere condolences to the victims’ families and to the Syrian people, while wishing the injured a swift recovery.
For his part, Deir Ezzor Governor Ziad al-Ayesh said the rapid response by government institutions and ministries, together with effective coordination among them, helped contain the consequences of the accident.
He lauded the Ministry of Defense for transporting several injured people by military helicopter to hospitals in Homs, helping accelerate their access to specialized medical care.
The governor described the road where the accident occurred as one of the country’s most dangerous highways, stressing the importance of accelerating the implementation of the Deir Ezzor–Damascus Road Project and completing the rehabilitation of the existing road to reduce future traffic accidents.
He also urged motorists to comply with traffic regulations, reduce speed and exercise maximum caution to safeguard road users.
Al-Ayesh also extended condolences to the victims’ families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
