Qatar offers condolences to Syria over deadly highway crash

Damascus, July 25 (SANA) Qatar expressed condolences to Syria on Saturday after a deadly traffic accident on the Deir Ezzor-Damascus highway killed 35 people and injured 30 others.

In a statement posted on X, Qatar’s embassy in Damascus extended its “sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy” to the Syrian government and people, as well as to the families of those killed in the crash, which occurred near the city of al-Sukhnah.

The embassy wished the injured a speedy recovery, and expressed hope that their families would be granted patience and strength.

Earlier on Saturday, two passenger buses collided on the Deir Ezzor-Damascus highway, prompting Syrian authorities to launch a large-scale emergency response.

The Ministry of Defense deployed military helicopters to evacuate the injured, while emergency services and hospitals in the affected governorates were placed on high alert.
