Damascus, July 1 (SANA) A magnitude 3.2 earthquake struck 41 km east of Hama in central Syria early Wednesday, the National Earthquake Center said, with some residents reporting they felt the tremor.
The center said its monitoring stations recorded the earthquake at 1:15 a.m. local time. The epicenter was located 41 kilometers (25 miles) east of Hama at a depth of 11.5 kilometers (7.1 miles).
According to the center, the earthquake occurred along subsidiary faults linked to the Palmyra Fold Belt, a tectonic zone in central Syria.
The National Earthquake Center said in a statement on May 22 that residents in parts of northern and northwestern Syria could experience recurring tremors because of ongoing seismic activity following a magnitude 5.6 earthquake that struck Türkiye’s Malatya province.
