Damascus, June.4 (SANA) Minister of Tourism Mazen al-Salhani discussed with Turkish Ambassador to Damascus Nuh Yilmaz ways to expand tourism cooperation between Syria and Türkiye and broaden partnership opportunities in the fields of hospitality, investment, training and cultural tourism.
During the meeting, held on Thursday at the Ministry of Tourism headquarters in Damascus, the two sides explored opportunities to benefit from Turkish expertise in hospitality development, tourism education and professional training, while promoting technical cooperation and knowledge exchange in areas related to destination management and upgrading the operational readiness of the tourism sector.
The discussions also addressed the significance of Türkiye’s experience in developing the tourism sector, widely regarded as one of the leading regional and international models. Both sides stressed the importance of encouraging Turkish investment in Syria’s tourism sector, increasing two-way tourism flows, and expanding air connectivity between the two countries.
They further noted the growing number of Turkish visitors traveling to Syria in recent months, highlighting the need to develop cooperation frameworks that keep pace with this positive trend and support sustainable tourism growth.
