Raqqa, May 31 (SANA) The Water Resources Directorate in Raqqa announced that the level of the Euphrates River had dropped by approximately 60 centimeters since Saturday, as of midday Sunday.

The decline follows technical measures implemented to regulate water discharge, particularly the closure of the fourth spillway gate at the Euphrates Dam and the reduction of water releases from the Kediran Dam, following a decrease in inflows from Türkiye.

Director of Water Resources in Raqqa Ahmad al-Ajaji told SANA that the recorded decline coincided with a reduction in water volumes released through the dams, which has directly contributed to lower river levels across the province.

He said field teams continue to monitor water conditions and track changes in river levels in coordination with relevant authorities to ensure a rapid response to developments and closely monitor areas along the riverbanks.

In Deir Ezzor, SANA’s reporter said that the Euphrates floodwaters receded in Deir Ezzor city, following reduction of Dams water discharge.

Earlier on Sunday, the Kediran Dam administration announced a reduction in water discharge to approximately 1,500 cubic meters per second as part of efforts to regulate river flows following a decrease in inflows from Türkiye and the receding flood wave.

Meanwhile, teams from the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management continue emergency response operations and field interventions in Deir Ezzor and Raqqa provinces following the recent rise in Euphrates River levels.
The efforts are being coordinated through a joint operations room involving ministries, local authorities and relevant agencies to minimize damage, ensure civilian safety and maintain the operation of vital infrastructure.
