Deir Ezzor, May 29 (SANA) President Ahmad al-Sharaa met local dignitaries during a visit to Deir Ezzor on Friday to discuss measures aimed at addressing rising water levels in the Euphrates River.

The discussions focused on the impact of the rising waters, emergency response efforts, and broader service, development and living conditions in the province.

Relevant ministers presented their departments’ response plans in sectors related to services, infrastructure and relief, as part of efforts to enhance stability and improve living conditions in the province.

The ministerial delegation included the secretary-general of the presidency and the ministers of local administration and environment, energy, health, public works and housing, agriculture, emergency and disaster management, along with a deputy minister of economy.

In recent days, several areas along the Euphrates in Deir Ezzor and Raqqa provinces have witnessed a significant rise in water levels. Authorities said 2,400 families in Deir Ezzor have been affected. Emergency teams, civil defense units and local authorities have raised readiness levels, implemented preventive measures and carried out evacuations when necessary to protect residents and property and minimize potential losses.
