Deir Ezzor, May.27 (SANA) The collapse of the earthen bridge linking the two banks of the Euphrates River in Deir Ezzor eastern Syria has isolated thousands of civilians and disrupted daily movement after water levels in the river rose due to increased water releases and climatic changes.
The earthen bridge is considered a vital lifeline for residents of the city and its countryside, as it is used daily by civilians to reach destinations.
Following the bridge’s collapse, residents have faced renewed hardship amid the absence of safe and rapid transportation alternatives.
Residents called on the relevant authorities and humanitarian organizations to intervene urgently by repairing the bridge or establishing alternative crossings in order to alleviate the burden on civilians already facing difficult living conditions due to the deterioration of economic and service conditions in the region.
