Baku, May 20 (SANA) Minister of Public Works and Housing Mustafa Abdul Razzaq held a series of meetings with officials, investors and specialists in urban development and housing on the sidelines of the 13th World Urban Forum in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku.
The discussions focused on reconstruction, modern city development and sustainable urban investment, alongside ways to improve infrastructure and public services.
Damascus Governor Maher Marwan Edlbi participated in the meetings, where officials reviewed international experiences in smart urban planning, digital transformation and mixed-use development projects.
As part of the visit, the minister and the governor toured the Sea Breeze coastal development overlooking the Caspian Sea, where they were briefed on the project’s implementation phases, architectural vision, infrastructure systems and service facilities.
The Syrian delegation also discussed with project owner Emin Agalarov several issues related to urban development and investment, including the exchange of expertise on modern city planning and the development of tourism and service-oriented areas in line with sustainable urban development goals.
Meetings held by the Syrian delegation during the forum addressed reconstruction, sustainable urban growth, housing sector development and improving the efficiency of infrastructure and public services.
The delegation also reviewed international experiences in environmentally friendly urban projects and investment in modern cities.
Participants at the forum stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation and exchanging expertise among countries and institutions involved in urban development to help address urban challenges, promote sustainable development and improve quality of life in cities.
Syria is taking part in the 13th World Urban Forum, organized by UN-Habitat under the theme “Global Housing: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities.” The forum opened in Baku on May 18 and runs through May 22, with the participation of ministers, officials and experts from around the world.
