Hasakah, April 20 (SANA) Syria and Iraq reopened the al-Yarubiyah–Rabia border crossing in Hasakah province on Monday, in the presence of senior officials from both countries.

The Syrian side was represented by Qutaiba Badawi, head of the General Authority for Land and Sea Ports, and presidential envoy Ziad al-Ayesh, while Iraqi officials included Nineveh Governor Abdul Qader al-Dakhil and Border Ports Authority chief Omar al-Waeli.

The reopening is expected to restore cross-border movement, boost economic activity and facilitate the movement of people and goods under established legal frameworks.

Syrian and Iraqi officials held talks on enhancing coordination at border crossings and easing transit and trade flows in line with shared interests.

The crossing has undergone recent rehabilitation work by both sides, including upgrades to service facilities, internal roads, passenger halls and customs areas, as well as improvements to technical and logistical systems aimed at ensuring smooth and secure operations.
