Damascus, April 14 (SANA) – Syria’s Ministry of Tourism and the Planning and Statistics Authority signed a memorandum of understanding Tuesday aimed at supporting tourism planning through the collection of specialized statistical data.
The agreement was signed in Damascus by Tourism Minister Mazen al-Salhani and Head of the Planning and Statistics Authority Anas Salim.
Under the memorandum, the two sides will cooperate in conducting surveys related to housing, households and establishments to gather demographic, social and urban data needed for tourism planning and development studies.
Tourism Minister al-Salhani said the agreement represents an important step toward developing the tourism sector, noting that accurate and updated statistical data is essential for sustainable development planning and for preparing studies to attract tourism investment.
For his part, Salim said the cooperation reflects the authority’s role in providing reliable statistical data to government institutions, enabling the Ministry of Tourism to develop effective policies for tourism development.
The surveys are expected to produce updated statistical databases, population distribution maps and analytical reports that will support planning and investment in tourism areas across Syria.
