Damascus, April 5 (SANA) The Syrian Interior Ministry said Sunday that anti-narcotics units had foiled an attempt to transport a large shipment of captagon pills in the Homs countryside, arresting five suspects following a security operation.
The ministry said the operation targeted a major trafficking network on the Shinshar road in Homs province in central-western Syria, leading to the arrest of five individuals, including a woman.
Anti-narcotics units seized around 42 kilograms of captagon pills, which had been concealed and prepared for distribution.
Preliminary investigations indicated the network used complex smuggling methods, including involving women and children to transport the drugs in an effort to avoid detection, the ministry said.
Officials said investigations are ongoing to determine the full scope of the network and identify other individuals involved, who will be referred to the judiciary.
