Damascus, Apr. 3 (SANA) The Syrian Ministry of Justice issued a circular on Wednesday mandating all courts, judicial departments, and their administrative offices to fully comply with exempting persons with disabilities from judicial fees and financial guarantees in all lawsuits filed before courts of all types and levels, whether as plaintiffs or defendants.
The ministry stressed that the exemption applies to disabilities officially documented through a disability card issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor to Syrian citizens and those of similar status, considering it the approved legal document for eligibility.
It called on the Judicial Inspection Department and public prosecutors to closely monitor the implementation of the circular, take the necessary measures to ensure proper enforcement, and report any violations.
The circular comes within the framework of the Syrian government’s commitment to safeguarding the rights of persons with disabilities and ensuring their fair and accessible access to justice, with the disability card granting its holders a range of benefits, facilitation measures, and, in some cases, financial assistance—particularly for severe conditions such as quadriplegia.
