Damascus, March 29 (SANA) The Ministry of Interior implemented intensive security measures on Sunday to secure churches and their surroundings on the occasion of Palm Sunday. According to the Ministry’s statement on Telegram, the operations included a wide deployment of patrols, the establishment of fixed and mobile checkpoints, and heightened readiness among specialized units to ensure the protection of places of worship.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public order and providing a safe environment for all citizens to practice their religious rituals with freedom and peace of mind. These proactive steps are part of a broader strategy to safeguard national stability during major public and religious gatherings.

Christian denominations in Syria following the Western calendar celebrated Palm Sunday today, marking the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. Divine liturgies and prayers were held across the country, presided over by their beatitudes the patriarchs and bishops. The services were characterized by traditional processions as worshippers carried olive branches and palm fronds, symbolizing peace and victory.
