Sweida, March 26 (SANA) Sheikh Laith al-Balous underscored the need to confront separatist and divisive projects targeting the fabric of Syrian society and undermining its unity, security, and stability for the sake of narrow personal ambitions at the expense of people’s blood, displacement and future.

In a statement issued Wednesday, al-Balous referred to current regional and international developments and their local repercussions, stressing the importance of serious collective national action free from provocation, polarization and hate speech. He called for opening a new page based on goodwill, rebuilding trust and strengthening the values of civil peace.

Al Balous said that the recent movements by proponents of separatism in Sweida, driven by foreign and Israeli agendas, reveal contradictions between public alliances and hidden ones, raising questions about who has seized Sweida’s national decision and unity. He affirmed that the Druze community in the Levant has a long history of dignity and human values, and that any attempt to alter their monotheistic identity or introduce alien practices is categorically rejected for stripping the faith of its ethics and principles.

Addressing the people of Sweida, he said: “Continuing to gamble with your future under the name of ‘Bashan’ and antagonizing our Arab and Islamic surroundings requires standing up against the local authoritarian system that has deepened repression, sold illusions, obstructed national solutions, and ignored the fate of our people and their return to their villages and homes.”

Al Balous affirmed ongoing efforts with relevant authorities to ensure fair compensation for affected families, safeguard their social and moral rights, and build a national reconciliation path that unites communities, ends strife, strengthens security and peace, and lays the foundations for stability and national unity in building a renewed Syria for all its citizens.
