Hasakah, March 14 (SANA) – Syria’s presidential envoy overseeing the implementation of the January 29 agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing the integration process and addressing the detainee issue as part of broader efforts to strengthen stability and national unity.
Brig. Gen. Ziad al-Ayesh said the Syrian state intends to move forward with a comprehensive plan to integrate SDF structures into state institutions and resolve outstanding security and administrative issues related to the group.
He added that authorities are expected to release a second group of detainees in the coming days, describing the step as part of a wider reconciliation effort aimed at promoting stability and supporting the reintegration of individuals into society.
Al-Ayesh also said the government plans to assume control of prisons previously managed by the SDF, transferring their administration to the Interior Ministry while legal procedures would be overseen by the Justice Ministry to ensure due judicial process.
According to the envoy, ongoing discussions with SDF leadership also include efforts to release political detainees and individuals detained in connection with the Syrian conflict, as part of a broader attempt to move beyond past divisions.
Earlier this month, Hasakah witnessed a mutual prisoner release involving 200 detainees from both sides under the supervision of the presidential team tasked with implementing the January agreement.
The Syrian government previously announced that the January 29 accord includes a ceasefire arrangement, the gradual integration of military and administrative structures, the deployment of state security forces in the centers of Hasakah and Qamishli, and the transfer of civilian institutions and border crossings to state control.
