Hasakah, March 13 (SANA) – A spokesman for the presidential team overseeing integration with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said the process of incorporating the group into Syrian state institutions will be gradual after more than a decade of separate administration in northeastern Syria.
Ahmad al-Hilali said the government has begun implementing steps to restore state institutions and services in Hasakah province in line with directives from President Ahmad al-Sharaa to accelerate integration efforts and address urgent humanitarian and service needs in the region, following agreements aimed at integrating the SDF politically, militarily and administratively.
He noted that authorities are prioritizing key issues including detainees, displaced people and the reopening of major roads linking cities across the province. Temporary joint security checkpoints have also been established as part of transitional arrangements during the integration phase.
According to al-Hilali, around 4,500 SDF fighters are expected to be integrated into units affiliated with the Syrian Arab Army, describing the security and military tracks as the most critical stages of the process.
He added that the integration effort also includes restoring government institutions in the region, reopening schools in Hasakah and Qamishli with the Syrian curriculum, and rehabilitating service sectors that were affected during years of separate administration.
Al-Hilali said the transfer of the Rmeilan oil fields to the Syrian Oil Company is also expected to support the national economy, stressing the importance of allocating part of the revenues to development projects in northeastern Syria.
