Vienna, March 10 (SANA) A delegation from Syria’s Interior Ministry took part in a high-level event on synthetic drug markets in Arab states held on the sidelines of the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs in Vienna.
The event, titled “Synthetic Drug Markets in Arab States: Trends and Responses,” was organized in cooperation with the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences and brought together regional and international officials to discuss trends in synthetic drug trafficking and efforts to address the issue.
According to a statement posted Tuesday on the ministry’s Telegram channel, discussions covered the spread of synthetic drugs in the Arab region, related security challenges, and ways to strengthen coordination among countries to tackle the problem and reduce its risks.
The Syrian delegation is headed by Deputy Interior Minister Major General Abdul Qader Tahan and includes the director of the Anti-Narcotics Department and the director of the International Cooperation Department.
The 69th session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs began Monday in Vienna and will run until March 13, with representatives from a number of countries and international organizations attending.
