Vienna, March 9 (SANA) A Syrian delegation from the Interior Ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is participating in the 69th session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs, held at the United Nations headquarters in Vienna, Austria, Syria’s Interior Ministry said.
The delegation includes Deputy Interior Minister Maj. Gen. Abdul Qader Tahan, several officers from the Interior Ministry and Saad Baroud, director of the Department of International Organizations at the Foreign Ministry, according to a statement from the ministry.
The meeting brings together official delegations, experts and representatives from numerous countries and international organizations concerned with combating narcotics and strengthening international cooperation against drug trafficking.
Syria’s participation aims to contribute to discussions on international efforts to combat drug trafficking and enhance its national capabilities in this regard.
The Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) is the United Nations’ central policy-making body on drug-related matters and meets annually in Vienna to review global drug control policies and cooperation mechanisms.
